Rules & Conditions of Play
Bowls3Five
Two-bowls Triples – gender-neutral teams
(teams can be comprised of all ladies, all men or any combination)
Saturday & Sunday August 15th & 16th
Entry Fee = $60.00 per team
There will be 4 10-end games per day with the first game starting at 9:00am both days
Subsequent games are scheduled to start at 10:30, 12:30 & 2:00pm
Two trial ends can be played prior to the first game on Saturday
All games will be played in accordance with the Laws of The Sport of Bowls, Crystal Mark 4th Edition 2022
Substitution of a player requires the umpire’s approval
Bowls3Five rules
- Each team shall consist of three players.
- Each player shall play with two bowls.
- Each game shall be played over two sets; each set consisting of five ends.
- The winner of a set will be the team with the highest number of shots after five ends.
- If the shots are tied at the end of five ends, the set will be a draw.
- If the game is tied after the two sets have been completed (each team winning one set or each set drawn) a one-end tie-breaker shall be played to decide the winner of the game.
- At the beginning of the game the skips shall toss a coin, the winner of the toss shall decide which team shall go first.
- The winner of the first set shall have the mat and first bowl of the second set. If the first set is drawn then the winner of the last scoring end in that set shall have the mat and first bowl of the second set.
- For a tie-breaker, the opposing skips shall toss a coin; the winner of the toss shall decide which team shall go first.
- If the jack is knocked out of bounds, it will be placed on the two-metre-mark.
- There is no time limit on the games,
Scoring
The winner of a game will be awarded 3 Game Points
The winner of a set will be awarded 2 Set points
If a set is tied, each team will be awarded 1 Set Point
Tournament ranking will be decided as follows:
Team with the most Game Points
If Game Points are equal then the Team with the most Set Points
If Game Points and Set Points are equal, then the Team with best Shot Differential (Shots scored in tie-breaks will not be included)
If Game Points, Set Points and Shot Differential are equal, then a coin toss
Hot Weather Rules: If the temperature reaches 32 degrees as determined by the umpire, the umpire will call for 5-minute cooling breaks to be taken approximately every 20 minutes |
